Global Change Advocate, W.F. Kumuyi Storms Port Harcourt as Change Makers International Galvanizes Stakeholders for Social Transformation

Celebrated global evangelist and social change advocate, Pastor William Folorunsho Kumuyi is expected to grace a series of conferences organized by Change Makers International, a social advocacy group, in Port Harcourt on August 15, 2024.

This disclosure was made on Sunday, August 4, 2024 by the Rivers State Overseer of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM), Pastor Andrew Osagie at a sensitization meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Pastor Osagie, who said he was representing the Convener, Pastor Kumuyi, announced that the maiden event by the CMI is billed for August 15 to 20, at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekahia, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

He further informed that the programme, which will be transmitted globally with the conferences for men and women, tagged” Change Makers” is aimed at bringing about change in Nigeria through reorientation of family values.

According to him, the conferences will focus on personal growth, leadership, social impact, and building a legacy of integrity for our great nation, adding that it will feature engaging speakers, interactive workshops, and meaningful discussions designed to empower men and women to lead lives of purposeful impact, integrity and influence.

“It is time to empower the family to be Change Makers; if morals are lost at the family level, it will affect the society and when moral values are sustained at the family level, the society will be healthy.”

“The Change Movement is important because it will help build values of integrity, transparency and honesty and make our society healthy and better.”

He urged the attendees, irrespective of religion or other considerations, to be part of the needed change focusing on men and women of impact, transformation and integrity.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Rivers State Branch, Dr Minaibi Dagogo-Jack concurred to the programme, while highlighting the social malaise the Nigerian society is grappling with, urging participants to coalesce on finding solutions to myriad maladies in play in the country.

Also indicating the consensus of the Muslim Ummah in Rivers State, Dr. Ibrahim Suberu of the Department of Religious and Cultural Studies, Faculty of Humanities, University of Port Harcourt called for personal reflections on how each citizens was culpable in situation society is faced wtih, urging demonstration of responsibility onn the part of both leaders and the led.

He noted clearly that “God would not change a nation until they change what they harbour in their hearts”, stressing that it was imperative for all concerned to identify with social change initiatives such the one by the Change Makers International to bring about the needed social renaissance critical to saving the country from self-immolation.  

On his part, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council, Stanle Job, who was represented by the State Secretary, Ike Wigodo, stated that the Media Community has always been onn the side of the people and always working to effect positive social change in the society.

Endorsing the forthcoming conference on behalf of the Media Community in the State, he expressed delight over the event, noting that it aligns with the desires of media practitioners who “want always want good things to happen in our country”, pledging the support of the Media for the event.  

Other speakers incuding religious leaders, public opinion leaders, and media practitioners, amongst others, all agreed that “God can not change the nation until we are ready to change”.

Change Makers International Initiative is a non-denominational and non-religious movement, established to drive positive change and social impact in the society.

According to the organization, it aims at galvanizing relevant stakeholders in diverse segments of the society to carry out the vision of providing solutions to the myriads of problems facing society, beginning with the heads of families.

It added that among the vehicles to effect these changes and bring social impact, is the hosting of Men’s and Women’s Global Conferences, where seminars, panel discussions would be carried out.
