Protesters in Rivers and Lagos States have resumed their demonstrations for the second consecutive day, highlighting grievances over economic hardships and food insecurity in Nigeria. The nationwide protests, slated to span ten days, commenced on Thursday across major urban centers.

In Port Harcourt, demonstrators gathered at Pleasure Park today, reaffirming their stance against prevailing economic challenges. Meanwhile, in Lagos, activists and other participants reconvened at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota.

The southern protests maintained a largely peaceful tone contrasted sharply with incidents in northern regions. Reports from Kano, Katsina, Yobe, Abuja, and other northern areas indicated instances of violence, looting, and clashes with security forces.

The situation up north prompted authorities to impose curfews in Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, and parts of Nasarawa and Yobe states, compelling protesters to adhere to stay-at-home directives.

The protests underscore a growing discontent among Nigerians grappling with economic adversities, reflecting a broader call for government action amidst mounting societal challenges.
