Excitement in Obot Akara as Umo Eno Reconnects Communities

It was a joyous moment for the people of Nto Ide, Ikot Amba in Obot Akara Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state as Governor Umo Eno commissions a bridge constructed by the government.

The Nto Ide-Ikot Amba bridge was awarded by the immediate past administration of Mr. Udom Emmanuel in 2021 and was at 60% completion as at the time the tenure of that administration ended in May 2023.

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Monday Uko explaining a point to Governor Umo Eno shortly before the commissioning of the bridge.

Governor Umo Eno who in his inaugural speech as the 5th democratically elected governor of the state promised to complete all ongoing projects and embark on new ones to the benefit of the people.

To this end, needed funds were made available to the contractor, Seyang Nigeria Ltd and indigenous construction company for the completion of the project.

This explains why the people trooped out in their colourful uniforms to welcome the governor and his entourage to Obot Akara Local Government Area.

Speaking exclusively with Kristina Reports, an Indigene of the community, Aniefiok Akpan, appreciated the governor for keeping to the promise he made to the people of Obot Akara when he came for campaign in 2023.

“He told us that he will complete all ongoing projects and embark on new ones in Obot Akara but we never believed it will happen in his first one year in office. This is a clear departure from the past where new administration embarks on new projects leaving the people to live with the challenges of abandoned projects”

Akpan went to commend the governor for looking beyond party lines in the execution of projects in the state saying the people are excited with his confidence as governor.

Speaking on behalf of elders of Obot Akara; Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Monday Uko, said the people cannot thank the governor enough but assured him that for what he has done and what he will continue to do in Obot Akara, the people will double their votes during his re-election in 2027.

Commissioning the projects, Governor Umo Eno the project symbolizes the dedication of his administration to enhance infrastructure across Akwa Ibom State. “Together, we’re building a stronger and more connected community for everyone”!

The governor also announced the award of contract for the construction of Mbiaso Road with a bridge in Obot Akara as well as the transformation of St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School, Nto Ide, into a model school I line with the ARISE Agenda of his administration.
