A traditional ruler in Bonny Kingdom, Se-Alabo Clinton Dan-Jumbo says Kristina Reports, a virtual news medium cum online news magazine, came at the nick of time to serve as a veritable platform for Bonny Kingdom to tell her story.

Se-Alabo Dan-Jumbo, who is the Chief and Head of the Dan-Jumbo Chieftaincy House of Grand Bonny Kingdom, said this on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 when he paid a courtesy call on Kristina Reports in Bonny, Rivers State.

He noted that it was imperative for Bonny Kingdom to tell her story lest others tell it and add unfavourable biases to it thus eroding the intrinsic particulars of glory, grandeur and greatness inherent in the story.

“I clearly see that we have for a long while not told our stories and you came on board and started telling the stories. There are things that we brought to the fore because we are the ones telling the story, and it will not be biased against us.”

“We have to speak. We have to tell our own story. If you don’t tell your own story, someone else will tell it for you. Nature abhors vacuum and that is what it is.”

The Dan-Jumbo House Chief and Head, who was accompanied by his wife, Alabota Christy Dan-Jumbo, and Bonny Kingdom’s traditional master of ceremony, Amasenibo Dave Banigo, noted that because Kristina Reports has an editorial team that is populated and led by Bonny indigenes, it would be able to propagate the vision of the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom and the institutions that make up the Kingdom.

“It will help the vision of the Amanyanabo, for instance, the vision of the Local Government, for instance, the vision of the Chief’s Council, for instance, because you are from here. You will know the pains that the Local Government is facing. You will know the pains that the traditional institutions are facing and then you will tell the story.”

“Having insight into that pain will make you know the pains we are facing, our terrain, our environment, what we lack; the fact that there’s no Federal Government presence in this Local Government from when I was a child; for generations, we’ve been abandoned.”

“…and then, you will acknowledge that the story will re-echo out there and people will realise that, ‘oh this people have been abandoned, completely abandoned’.”

He commended the management and staff of Kristina Reports for the milestones achieved so far, observing that the Publisher and Chief Executive Officer, Godswill Jumbo, and his leadership team have done well to stay focused on the vision and continue to implement it and thus grow the media house to what it is today.

“What I have seen here doesn’t just show capacity. It shows someone with a sense of mission, it’s the watchword. I know how this whole process was conceptualized.”

“I was there at the teething stage. I was there at the conceptualization stage. I was there at the formative stage. I was there when the dream was formed. We talked about it, you know. It’s a good vision.”

“Whatever comes at this stage gives you impetus to take it to the next level and interestingly, you listen, and I’m happy that this is where Kristina Reports is today, and in serving the needs of people, I just hope you people will understand and key into what this vision is.”

Assuring the Publisher/CEO of his support as the virtual medium continues to grow, Se-Alabo Dan-Jumbo admonished him and his management team to stay on the part of professionalism and ethical conduct, advising him to “keep up the good work you’re doing”.

“I think that’s the vision, that’s where this sits within the kingdom, I’m happy, I’m happy. I can only say please keep up the good work.”

“One thing, though, don’t be biased because you have maintained professionalism, continue to maintain professionalism. Don’t look at that story that it is coming from this person or is not coming from this person.”

“Tell the story, accept it the way it is, that’s the truth. I have always told you, you know I’ve always backed you up and I will continue to back you up.”

On his part, the traditional master of ceremony for Bonny Kingdom, Amasenibo Dave Banigo also commended the Kristina Reports management team led by its Publisher/CEO, Godswill Jumbo for the milestones achieved, advising that there should be paradigm shift from “stories and pictures” to “pictures and stories”.

He stressed that it was important for people to know the stories behind the pictures they see of the Bonny people, noting that this would enhance their understanding of way of life of the Ibani ethnic national and the Bonny people’s way of life.

Earlier, the Publisher/CEO of Kristina Reports had expressed his appreciation to the Bonny Country Chief for the visit, informing him that has grown over time to where it now serves various stakeholders, stating that from information dissemination to stakeholder management to agenda setting, the virtual medium has become a rallying point for diverse interests.

He further informed Se-Alabo Dan-Jumbo that the media house is populated by media professionals and technical staff, who drives various processes to make it a destination of choice for veritable and verified information, social impact propagation, agenda setting efforts and crystallization of issues in the polity.

Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of the traditional two bottles of wine as is customary when receiving a Bonny Kingdom traditional ruler and presentation of souvenir to Se-Alabo Clinton Dan-Jumbo by Kristina Reports Publisher/CEO, Godswill Jumbo.
