The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Bonny Constituency in the forthcoming 2019 elections, Dabota Jumbo has expressed her passion and enthusiasm towards issues affecting students, especially, those from her constituency.
She promised to mainstream the welfare and other opportunities for students when elected into office, create a synergy between her office and the National Union of Bonny Students (NUBS), and pursue collaborations that would open up windows of opportunities for students to leverage for their educational and entrepreneurial advancement.
Jumbo stated this on Friday, December 21, 2018, when she appeared on NUBS Political Platform, an initiative of the current NUBS leadership to strategically engage the political class. The NUBS Political Platform was part of NUBS 2018 National Convention.
She was represented by a former National President of the National Union of Rivers State Students (NURSS), Kalada Jumbo, which had the lawmaker representing Degema/Bonny Federal constituency in the House of
Representatives, Randolph Brown, represented by his Special Assistant, Claude Hart, and the lawmaker representing Bonny Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Abinye Pepple, also represented by his aide, Kerry Bristol.
The former Caretaker Committee member of Bonny LGA, while addressing the leadership and members of NUBS, enumerated her contributions to the upliftment young people including students and widows.
She noted that students form the fulcrum of any development-driven society and for Bonny Kingdom to move forward, students have to be accorded their pride of place and engaged strategically to drive initiatives that would engender progress for the community.
Dabota Jumbo will be squaring up against the member currently representing Bonny Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Abinye Pepple, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The students, through their National President, Kelvin Banigo thanked the APC candidate for honouring their event and showcasing her plans for the students and the union when elected into office.

He stated that, though NUBS remains non-partisan, students would, on election day, queue up behind candidates and political parties that prioritize issues affecting them, stressing that for the students, inclusiveness, support for scholarships, opportunities for entrepreneurial pursuits, among others were their basic demands.
