The Nigerian Navy has continued to sustain its bullish aggression against criminal elements in the Nigerian maritime environment with a raid on a suspected militant hideout where it arrested one suspect and recovered arms and ammunitions.
A senior official of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (NNFOB), Bonny, who preferred not to be named, told Kristina Reports that the operation took place on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 around the Biekiri area in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.
“Acting on credible intelligence gathered over time, on 20th December, 2023 at about 05:40PM, FOB Nigerian Navy Bonny tactical riverine assault squadrons, cast off to raid a suspected militant hideout around the Biekiri general area in Bonny LGA.”
He listed the items recovered as including one M Series pistol, one AK 56 magazine, 191 pieces of 7.62 by 39mm live ammunition, 10 pieces of 9mm live ammunition, five pieces of wooden rifle butt, 15 handheld radios, and five handheld radio chargers.
Others include 14 mobile phones, six torchlights, two Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, the sum of N6,500, two hammers and one iron brush.
He informed that the arrested suspect has been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and prosecution.
Recall that the Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (NNFOB), Bonny, Commodore Reginald Adoki had stated that in line with the strategic guidance and operational guidelines of the Chief of Naval Staff, his officers and ratings were committed to exterminating all forms of criminality around the Nigerian maritime environment.
