The Amanyanabo of Kirike Kingdom in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, His Royal Majesty, King Air Commodore Tamuno-Omisiki Emmanuel Opuiyo Ogube, DSSRS, JP, Ogube I, Perekule Kingoli I, has called on all stakeholders to prioritize peace amidst the recent tumultuous events in the Rivers State.
The Monarch made this call on Thursday, November 2, 2023 during an interactive session with journalists in his Palace in Kirike Town, Okrika LGA, Rivers State.
He advocated for significant harmony and reconciliation within Rivers State and amongst members of the State House of Assembly, particularly, with regards to the move to impeach the State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara.
King Ogube emphasized that the impeachment plan is premature and lacking in benevolence as this places a cog in the wheel of progress and governance paradigm of Rivers State.
Highlighted the promising strides Governor Fubara has taken in steering Rivers State towards a brighter future through purposeful leadership in the State, the revered monarch implored politicians and leaders within the State to come together in reconciliation efforts.
He underscored the fact that unity is germane to the greater good of peace, tranquility and overall stability of the state, stressing that there was the need to stimulate a fervent desire to see harmony restored.
The traditional ruler, however, maintained that the apparent political discord between the State Governor and the Minister of the FCT is essentially a family matter, stressing that it should be resolved amicably, devoid of undue external influence or interference.
King Ogube admonished the citizens of Rivers State to refrain from making provocative statements that could further inflame the already tensed political climate, asserting that the path to sustainable development can only be realized when the State is characterized by unwavering peace, unity, and stability, noting that peace and reconciliation serve as a beacon of hope during these challenging times in Rivers State.
