The Lagos State Government has said it will put in place six Air Quality Monitoring Stations at strategic locations across the state to curb air pollution.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Environment, Abiodun Bamgboye disclosed this to newsmen on Friday in commemorating 2019 World Environment Day.
He said that the Air Quality Monitoring Stations was in conjunction with World Bank Pollution Management and Environment Health Programme.
He buttressed that the government would continue in collaborating with local and international government and health agencies to initiate programmes aimed at improving safer air in the state.
He said, “Very notable among these collaborations is the World Bank Pollution Management and Environment Health programme, whose first component is the establishment of an Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Network for Lagos State”.
Bamgboye added that the theme for this year’s World Environment Day, ‘Air Pollution’ as a great concern and will be committed in enlightening the public on dangers of air pollution in the state.
