Rivers State Commissioner for Local Governments, Rodaford Longjohn says the re-election of Nyesom Wike as Governor of Rivers State will attract greater dividends of democracy to the people of Bonny Local Government Area.
According to him, the people of the area have for the umpteenth time given him the block votes he needs to win the election and return as Governor, thus the onus will be on him to return the favour.
Longjohn stated this in a chat with Kristina Reports in his hometown, Abalamabie, Ward 6, Bonny LGA, shortly after the governorship and House of Assembly election on Saturday, March 9, 2019.
“Bonny is PDP, and PDP is Bonny. We have done our part and as you know, to whom much is given, much is required. This is the second time we are voting for him massively. And you can see the turnout.”
He described the elections as “generally okay, very peaceful and very orderly”.
He commended the people of the area for the large turnout, saying though that the number would been lower than witnessed.
“Well, the issue is that because they did not vote last time ordinarily the turnout would have been low. This impression of not holding elections, some people would have thought out the election would not hold but we are grateful for God’s intervention”.

He praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the success of the exercise but advised them to improve on the scheduled time of the exercise, stressing that “they need to improve on their timing. Timing is important”.
