Tackling insecurity remains the policy thrust of the current administration in Bonny Local Government Area. And this determination would see that every community is safe for the people to live and go about their daily activities.
This disclosure was made by the Chairman of the LGA, David Irimagha on Thursday, May 9, 2019 during a courtesy call on him by a delegation from Onwo-Kiri Community, Bonny led by their Community Chairman, Capt. Brown Allison, in his office at the Council Secretariat, Bonny.
According to a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Ogbah William Agwu, the Bonny LG chief executive stressed that, though insecurity was now a national challenge, his administration was working assiduously to make the local government area safe by reducing to the barest minimum incidences of insecurity.
Irimagha further stated that the government was poised on tackling the flooding debacle in the area by ensuring that the blocked drainages were re-opened and cleaned.
He assured that the skyrocketing unemployment rate in the area would soon be a thing of the past as the Nigeria LNG train 7 project would soon commence, adding that, aside that his administration was also working on creating job opportunities with a view to empowering the people of the area.
Earlier, leader of the Onwo-Kiri Community delegation, Capt. Allison had drawn the attention of the LG Chairman to the insecurity and flooding challenges facing the community, calling for his intervention to address them.
He pledged the support of his community to the current administration in the area to ensure it continues to achieve its set objectives and move the LGA forward.
Also speaking, a cleric, Bishop Dappa Abbey appreciated God for His grace and the victory of the council boss at the poll, thanking him for appointing one of their sons as Chairman of the Marine Revenue Committee.
