In the spirit of sportsmanship and commitment to the developmental trajectory of Bonny Kingdom, the Rebirth Team that produced Clarkson Hart in the just concluded Bonny Youths Federation (BYF) election has stated that it would not seek a review of the electoral process.
It further stated that its principal, Clarkson Hart was predisposed to working with the winner of the election, Emmanuel Finecountry to further the cause of pursuing the objectives of improving the lives and circumstances of the youths of Bonny Kingdom.
Director General of the Rebirth Team, Larry Igbaningo told Kristina Reports shortly after the results were announced and Emmanuel Finecountry declared winner that this was in keeping with the avowed commitment of the team to seek better opportunities for the youths, which was the original vision behind contesting the elections.
“It is for the best interest of the kingdom. We are all Bonny people and it is a Bonny man that won, it is not an Andoni man or Ogoni man. So, we are not going to contest the outcome of the election, we are not. We are just pointing out the errors, the abnormalities, to let them know that we know what they did.”
“We cannot fail to state that the (BYF) CTC showed a high level of electoral malpractice by giving out ballot papers in excess. Rather than having a total of 105 total delegates or votes, we had 113+. This happened in all other positions. We have pointed out these frauds to both the security agencies present and the General Public.”
“We are always open to possibilities; that is the truth of the matter. Anybody that knows us knows that we always stand for what is right and anything that would benefit Bonny Kingdom as a whole. If he comes up with good programmes that would benefit Bonny Kingdom; that would take the youths from where they are to somewhere better off, why not?”
Candidate of the Rebirth Team, Clarkson Hart, who polled a total of 30 votes, lost to Emmanuel Finecountry, who polled 70 votes, to emerge the new Leader of the Bonny Youths Federation (BYF).
Igbaningo posited that though the anomalies with the election process were very obvious and cast a shadow of illegality on the process, his team would rather align with the vision of transforming the system for the betterment of Bonny youths.
Igbaningo, a Masters’ degree holder in Communications Studies from the Rivers State University (RSU), opined that the overall interest of Bonny Kingdom was the priority of the Rebirth Team, noting that the team believes that the high level of interest exhibited by the youths in the election underscores their determination to take their destiny in their own hands.
He, therefore, called on Emmanuel Finecountry to maximize the privilege fate had thrust on him to leverage the support of the youths to change the narrative for their benefit, advising him to strategically engage relevant stakeholders to pursue the realization of his lofty vision for the youths.
