Governor Godwin Obaseki, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), based on results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has so far recorded more votes in 10 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state.
The PDP pulled 162, 044 while APC had 102, 498 votes from the declared results in the 10 LGAs.
The governor, as at time of press is leading his All Progressive Congress rival, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, by a wide margin of 59, 546 votes according to the electoral umpire.
Results started trickling in at the early hours of Sunday September 20, 2020 from different LGAs and are being announced by presiding officials of INEC from each LGAs where results were collated from ward levels.
The election was held in 18 Local Government Areas, 192 Wards, and 2,627 polling units.
