As 2019 draws close, some politicians have begun moves to oust President Muhammadu Buhari from office via the forthcoming presidential election billed to hold February 2019. Currently jostling for the ticket of the various political parties are veteran as well new aspirants. Whether they have what it takes to win Buhari at the polls is talk for another day. Kristina Reports serves a rich menu of these individuals.

Atiku Abubakar

Atiku leads the pack of those poised to oust President Muhammadu Buhari is a former vice president, Atiku Abubakar. The Adamawa born business magnate hopes to clinch the PDP ticket and ultimately trounce Buhari at the polls.

Born November 25, 1946, Atiku, who was second runner-up to Moshood Abiola and Bashir Tofa in the June 12, 1993 polls and former governor of Gongola and later Adamawa State, served as vice president under former president Olusegun Obasanjo.

One challenge the Turaki, who has defected to virtually every major political party in Nigeria, would have is the recent probe of his company, Intels Services by the federal government through the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

Curiously, no governor on the platform of the PDP attended his presidential declaration last weekend.

Kingsley Moghalu

This banking guru and former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria is all hyped to unseat Buhari come 2019. He has been selling himself to the youths and middle class as the man with the magic wand to redeem the country.

Political pundits remain divided on the prospect of transferring his wealth of experience in the banking sector to achieve the goal of ousting the incumbent president from power. Many believe that he will do well.

Donald Duke

A former governor of Cross River State and development enthusiast, his ambition of becoming president of Nigeria which was almost realized in 2007 seems reactivated with his recent declaration to contest against and win President Buhari.

He is one of the henchmen behind the formation of save Nigeria movement which has midwife the brith of coalition of untied political parties (CUPP), a collabo of 37 political parties.

A downside to his succeeding at this, however, was the revelation by former finance minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala that he tried to convince her not to work for the success of then president Goodluck Jonathan, one that did not go down well with Nigerians.

Rabiu Kwankwaso

A former governor of Kano State and founder of the Kwankwansiya movement, a pan Nigerian political movement, Kwankwanso shares a common quality with Buhari, which is massive appeal among the commoners across northern Nigeria.

Though of the APC like Buhari, he has been reaching and consulting across political divides to drive his quest to unseat Buhari come 2019. How these pan out remain to be seen in the dyas to come.

Bukola Saraki

Senate President and former governor of Kwara State has been steeped in a running battle with his party, APC, and the federal government which was bent on seeing him off to prison via prosecution of alleged breach of the code of conduct act. He only got a breather recently when the Supreme Court quashed all the charges against him as hearsay.

He is also enmeshed in another battle with the police which has accused him of allegedly sponsoring a gang of kidnappers and criminals in his home state.

He has however been reaching out to the PDP and other political actors in his bid to secure guarantees of support ahead of the 2019 polls. Political pundits say he appears to be a more formidable opponent for Buhari, though that would be outside the APC.

Jerry Gana

The man that has served in every government except that of President Buhari has now thrown his hat into the ring. He recently declared his intention to unseat Buhari as president.

A former minister of information he has pitched his tent with the PDP and has been making consultations across board to garner support to drive his ambition.
