Sokoto, the seat of the Caliphate, was shut down today as a mammoth crowd poured into the street to show solidarity to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Major roads across the city were shut down as the immediate past governor of the state, Magatarkada Wammako arrived the state for an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally to show solidarity to the President.
Upon the defection of the state governor, Aminu Tambuwal to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wammako, who is currently a senator of the federal republic, had boasted that when he arrives Sokoto, “we will know which party really controls Sokoto”.
With the massive turnout witnessed today it was obvious that the chances of Buhari winning Sokoto State even if the PDP fields Tambuwal as presidential candidate in the forthcoming 2019 presidential election.
