The forum, which objective is to seek, through discussion, negotiation and debate, solutions to the various problems of the world, offers invaluable insights into the full range of United Nations (UN) activities and responsibilities.
The 13 year old, whose father, Tekena Lawson was a senior manager at the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA), emerged at the TAFMUN Port Harcourt 2018 Conference, a convergence of about hundred delegates from schools all over the country which held for four days between 27th and 30th August, 2018 at the L. It was designed to expose high schoolers to the issues of today’s world with each delegate representing a country and assigned a UN Committee to work under. They address a topical issue, as relates to their committee and proffer solutions to the issues.
During the programme, delegates acquired numerous skills such as debating, leadership, diplomacy, creative thinking and character skills.
