Nwokocha, who is a director of news at the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation (RSBC), was abducted along Golf Estate Highway, Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt, on her way back from work.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police (SP), said CP Nwonyi ordered that the police operatives should ensure the victim is released.

“The CP has mandated tactical teams to ensure she regains her freedom and reunite with her family members.”

Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ike Wigodo told Journalists in Port Harcourt that the State Commissioner of Police responded swiftly to the call of the Union and deployed his operatives to go after the kidnappers.

He commended CP Nwonyi for his pragmatic efforts and swift response, calling on all other security agencies to come to the aid of the NUJ in a bid to secure the release of the abducted journalist.
