GOMEP Honours FCT Police Chief for Strengthening Abuja Security

The Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers (GOMEP) has honoured Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohammed in recognition of his leadership and contributions to strengthening security across Abuja.

The recognition was presented during a courtesy visit by GOMEP officials to the Federal Capital Territory Police Command Headquarters in Abuja, where both parties reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between the media and security agencies in promoting public safety.

Presenting the honour, GOMEP President Ogbuefi Remmy Otiti said the recognition was in appreciation of Sanusi’s commitment to safeguarding residents, businesses and institutions within the nation’s capital.

“We are here to appreciate your outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of residents, businesses and institutions within the Federal Capital Territory,” Otiti said.

Otiti said the media and security agencies share a common responsibility in promoting national development and maintaining public confidence through the timely dissemination of credible information.

“The media and the police are strategic partners in nation building and security,” he said.

Responding, Ahmed Mohammed Sanusi thanked the guild for the recognition and described security as a responsibility that requires the collective efforts of all stakeholders, including the media.

“Security is a collective responsibility and we appreciate the role of the media in keeping the public informed and supporting the fight against crime,” Sanusi said.

Sanusi pledged that the command would continue to work with residents, journalists and other stakeholders to protect lives and property across the Federal Capital Territory.

He also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, community engagement and sustained efforts to prevent crime and enhance public safety in Abuja.

The visit also provided an opportunity for both the police and media practitioners to strengthen cooperation, with GOMEP expressing confidence that closer collaboration would support responsible journalism and contribute to improved security across the Federal Capital Territory.
