Rivers 2027: Wike, Chinda Meet Fubara In Port Harcourt
There are indications of a renewed political reconciliation in Rivers State as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and House of Representatives member, Kingsley Chinda, met with Governor Siminalayi Fubara in Port Harcourt.
Wike and Chinda, alongside their supporters, arrived at the Governor’s residence at about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 for a closed-door meeting with Fubara and members of his camp.

According to Reports, the meeting, which lasted for about four hours and ended around 8 p.m., was aimed at consolidating reconciliation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The engagement comes after years of political crisis that has divided Rivers State, following the fallout between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Wike, and the prolonged disagreement between the Governor and the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Sources said the meeting brought together key political figures and loyalists from both camps in a bid to mend fences and foster unity within the state’s political structure.
However, details of the discussion were not disclosed as both camps declined to speak with journalists after the meeting.
Neither Wike, Chinda, nor Governor Fubara addressed the press after the four-hour deliberation.
